Clay for Kids – Multiple options

This class is for Ages: (7-17)

Using handbuilding techniques, students will create a project and color it with engobes or stains. Return students may join in the group project, or build independently using proper construction methods. Independent wheel available for Valley Art experienced wheel students at $5 extra charge for clay per throwing day.

Prices includes all clay, colorants and/or glazes, and both firings afterward to complete the piece. Pieces available for pick up after month’s end or sooner, depends on the kiln loading schedule.


Minimum 4 students, maximum 12 students. Register now, pay once minimum met.
Registration usually closes at Noon the day before, may close earlier for lack of enrollment.

Wheel Experienced - Independent, Apr 12 & 26
This option is for previous wheel students that are okay with working independently for the most part. Wheel thrown pottery is usually considered functional and intended for food, so the glaze day is mandatory and already included in price.
One-day clay April 12
One handbuilt project, colored with engobes or underglazes, matte finish.
Optional Add-on Clear Glaze Apr 26
If you or your child prefer to have a glossy finish on the piece, another glazing class is needed between the bisque and cone 6 firing. Mandatory if returning handbuilding students choose to make a functional dish or mug. 4-5:30PM. *Already included in wheel price*
